June 13, 2008-  Friday the thirteenth was bound to be unlucky.  After a wet spring, yet another powerful storm proved too much for the boundaries of the Pine River.  At least eight inches of rain fell over night, bringing water to the highest level in the history of Johnny’s Park.  At about midnight, it was apparent that the safety of the animals was at risk.  We worked through the night, through the storm, to temporarily relocate all the animals.  Fortunately, all the animals were safely moved by daybreak Friday morning.  Once the water started to recede, it was apparent that there was significant structural damage.  We spent two busy weeks rebuilding, repairing, and cleaning up.  The animals were moved back in after it was determined everything was safe.

bridgebuild2.jpg A special thanks to numerous friends and family for all your help in saving animals and rebuilding.  Without your help, Johnny’s would not be open today.

Water had never been this high on the bridge across the river.

On Friday morning the water level was down a little but calf and goat houses

were still in the water.
